Combines colorful animated graphics with imaginative examples to explain fractions and how they are used and manipulated. Part III covers the addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers. Problems from daily life are presented with bright, colorful animations. Reviews are interspersed through the lessons. LESSON ONE utilizes ordinary experiences, such as the amounts of snowfall, to introduce adding fractions. The examples illustrate how to add and subtract fractions of the same denominator. LESSON TWO illustrates how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators. Equivalent fractions are used to explain how to find a common denominator. LESSON THREE shows how to add and subtract mixed numbers. Mixed numbers are changed to improper fractions and common denominators are found.
